About:

I am a mixed-media artist expressing vibrant joie de vivre from the inside out in Lake Country, Wisconsin.

I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography in 1997 and have since been exploring the many facets of visual language. My work is collected internationally. Twenty-two years ago, when I became a mother, I sold my field camera, invested in paints and canvases, and began painting daily, letting inspiration flow from the inside out. In 2021, I picked up a digital camera again and started weaving photography into my mixed-media practice. Today, I blend photography and collage into my colorful, layered paintings.

My mixed-media artwork is filled with bright colors, layered textures, and vibrant hues, inviting viewers into a tapestry of visual and tactile experiences.

The language of flowers, the expressive spirit of Fauvism, memories, and the visual expression of inner emotions are continual sources of inspiration in my work. Even when my paintings are nonobjective and abstract, I always find flowers within them. As Matisse once said, “There are always flowers for those who wish to see them.”

Duende As Art

Collaborative Paintings from 2012-2022

Katherine Rody, Adriaan Meijer and I shared a studio and painted collaborative paintings together from 2012-2022. Our collective paintings are signed, Duende As Art. Our paintings are collected internationally. Lyrical in their abstraction, our canvases are filled with vibrant color, micas and glass beed, texture and movement. It took us many years of painting together to develop a collective visual voice. Our mixed media paintings are inspired by the people and places we hold in our hearts.
